An ever-increasing amount of retail sales are moving online and it is through e-commerce that consumers are able to purchase goods.
Key components in e-commerce are the catalogue, the shopping cart system and the checkout. The catalogue holds hte product data, the shopping cart allows a consumer to choose a set of products to purchase and the checkout is where the transaction occurs. A number of of the shelf solutions are available that provide an excellent base for a new e-commerce project - we usually recommend Magento. Alternatively we can create entire bespoke e-commerce systems where an unusual commercial model exists.
For an operating e-commerce system there is a continual optimisation process with a goal of maximising the sales from the system. This might include rotation of offers, clear banner graphics, live-chat and more. Often these changes are implemented in split tests where the impact of a change can be measured quantitatively. This process is known as conversion rate optimisation or CRO.
We know that every project is different and we always aim to work with our clients in the most effective and appropriate way possible. There are some steps we take in most projects but if we need to take an alternative approach to ensure we deliver a certain product or service we are usually happy to do this.
